Scarinci Hollenbeck is pleased to announce that Partner John M. Scagnelli, Chair of the firm’s Environmental and Land Use Law Group, has been recently appointed as Environmental Counsel to the New Jersey State League of Municipalities (NJLM)

Lyndhurst, NJ, December 17, 2014 – Scarinci Hollenbeck is pleased to announce that Partner John M. Scagnelli, Chair of the firm’s Environmental and Land Use Law Group, has been recently appointed as Environmental Counsel to the New Jersey State League of Municipalities (NJLM), a partnership comprised of 565 New Jersey State municipalities.

The NJLM has been serving local officials throughout the Garden State since 1915. All 565 municipalities are members of the League. 565 mayors and 13,000 elected and appointed officials of member municipalities utilize the services of the NJML.

The NJML’s Legal Team is a resource for municipal attorneys in sharing knowledge and providing guidance for attorneys who counsel New Jersey’s municipalities. Additionally, the NJML General Counsel and the Amicus Curiae Committee consider requests from municipalities or municipal attorneys for intervention in court cases on behalf of specific local governments in cases of broad municipal importance pending in the Supreme Court or Appellate Division. The NJML’s legal counsels have advocated for municipal interests before the Appellate Division and Supreme Court in a variety of cases.

Mr. Scagnelli, a graduate of Yale Law School, has participated extensively in environmental organizations, conferences, and legal and business delegations. Among other organizations, he is a member of the American Bar Association Sections of International Law and Practice and National Resources, Energy and Environmental Law, the National Institute for Environmental Auditing, the New Jersey and New York State Bar Environmental Law Sections, and the Steering Committee of the New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professionals Association.
