New Jersey Redevelopment Attorney Patrick J. McNamara of Scarinci Hollenbeck plays integral role in proposal process for redevelopment plan amendment

Patrick J. McNamara plays an integral role in proposal process for redevelopment plan to increase Secaucus Parking

Lyndhurst, New Jersey, July 24, 2017— Scarinci Hollenbeck partner Patrick J. McNamara played an integral role in submitting a proposal leading to a redevelopment plan amendment allowing for increased parking at Secaucus Junction which was adopted unanimously by the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA) last week. The project will help satisfy a demand for additional parking since the existing surface lot operated by Edison Parking at the train station is full on weekdays.  The goal is to put the new parking on the site of the now vacant Goya warehouse building near the train station. The expansion would supply another 1100 parking spaces for use by commuters during the week and on weekends for people who want to use the rail shuttle to go to events at Met Life Stadium or who would prefer to park and take the train into New York City.

“The adoption of the Plan amendment will now allow Edison Parking to move forward with the next phase of permitting and approvals needed from the Town of Secaucus and the Hudson County Planning Board.  We look forward to moving this application process forward with both Boards in the next few months,” said McNamara.

“We have been very supportive of the [new] Edison proposal,” said Jim Kirkos, president of the Meadowlands Regional Chamber. “We need to be thinking differently about Secaucus Junction, and the potential land uses around it – and how parking can intersect with other development.”

The next step is filing for site plan approval with the Secaucus Planning Board & Hudson County Planning Board before construction can begin.

Patrick J. McNamara has extensive experience in redevelopment and land use law and related litigation. His activities include the representation of developers and public entities in preparation of and presentations before land use boards, redevelopment agencies, as well as county, regional and state agencies.
