Pinguelo, has been invited by the National Organization of Bar Counsel (NOBC) to speak at the their annual Mid-Year Meeting. Pinguelo will join panelists in a program titled “Professional Crossroads: Ethical Issues and Professional Responsibilities with Respect to E-Discovery.” This program is offered as part of other presentations held during the NOBC’s Mid-Year Meeting at The Conrad Chicago on February 5-8, 2014.
Pinguelo will join speakers: The Honorable Nan R. Nolan (retired U.S. Magistrate and co-founder of the Seventh Circuit E-Discovery Pilot Program) and Timothy J. Chorvat (Jenner & Block). The panel will be moderated by Charles Centarino (Director of the Office of Attorney Ethics of the New Jersey Supreme Court) and Wendy J. Muchman (Chief of Litigation and Professional Education – Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) of the Illinois Supreme Court). The panel will discuss various resources available to help lawyers become educated and competent in e-discovery issues and the ethical issues involved in e-discovery. They will also discuss the obligations of the legal profession and the responsibility of Bar Counsel’s offices with assisting lawyers in obtaining competency and knowledge in technology.
Pinguelo is no stranger to eDiscovery. He is the chair of Scarinci Hollenbeck’s eDiscovery group as well as chair of the firm’s Cyber Security & Data Protection Group. He recently co-authored Chapter 17 “Electronic Data, Cyber Security & Crisis Management,” with Edwin A. Machuca, senior corporate counsel for CBRE, Inc. for eDiscovery for Corporate Counsel. Known as the first E-Discovery treatise for in-house counsel, eDiscovery for Corporate Counsel is recognized for its practical analysis of litigation readiness, cost-control strategies, team development, and crisis management; by leading corporate counsel, outside counsel, and service providers. Pinguelo also designed one of the first, state-of-the-art electronic discovery law courses in the country, which he teaches at Seton Hall University School of Law; and created the ABA Journal award-winning eLessons Learned (www.eLLblog.com), an educational blog about how technology impacts lawsuits.
